Vajrang Shetty was born Mani Shetty on 31 July 1990 in Thekkatte, Kundapur, Karnataka. Raised in a middle-class Bunt family, he attended the government school in Thekkatte for his early education. He completed his pre-university studies at Viveka Junior College in Kota, Udupi District and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Tunga Mahavidyalaya in Thirthahalli.

His parents are Jayasheel Shetty, who worked as a farmer, and Vanaja Shetty. He grew up in Thekkatte, which remains listed as his hometown.

Career

Shetty began his film career in the Kannada film industry. His screen debut came in 2015 with the Kannada film Siddhartha, in which he played a character named Jani. After that first appearance he worked steadily in regional cinema, taking roles in films such as Bablusha (2016) and Uppu Huli Khara (2017).

In 2018 he appeared as Deepak in the romantic comedy Madha Mathu Manasi. Subsequent Kannada credits include Yajamana (2019) and James (2022). He reached a wider Telugu-speaking audience with a role in the 2023 film Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire, where he is credited as Vishnu.
