Vanya Mishra was born on 27 February 1992 in Jalandhar, Punjab. She grew up in Jalandhar and attended KB DAV School in Chandigarh before enrolling at Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh, where she completed a Bachelor of Engineering. Vanya is an only child; her father, a major in the Indian Army, died when she was two and she was raised by her mother.

Career

Vanya first gained public attention through beauty pageants. At 19 she won the Dabur Gulabari Miss Rose Glow contest, which helped her secure a spot among the top 20 contestants at Femina Miss India 2012. On 30 March 2012 she won the Femina Miss India World title and earned several sub-titles at the national pageant including Maybelline Most Beautiful Eyes, Most Beautiful Skin and Most Photogenic.

Later in 2012 Vanya represented India at the Miss World competition. Competing against over a hundred participants, she placed among the top finalists and won special recognitions at the event, including Beauty for a Purpose and Miss Social Media.
