He earned a Bachelor of Computer Applications from National Degree College, Basavanagudi, and also attended Sri Sai Sathyanarayana College Of Management And Science.
Before committing full time to the arts, Vasishta worked as a software engineer in the private sector. Theatre had been an early passion: he directed plays during college, acted in several stage productions, and won recognition for his work on stage. Those experiences motivated him to leave his job in 2011 and pursue a career in film and theatre.
Career
Vasishta made his on-screen debut in 2013 with a small role in the romantic Kannada film Arya's Love. Earlier productions included an unreleased project titled Hubballi Hudagaru. Over the next few years he took supporting roles in films such as Raja Huli and Rudra Tandava, and appeared in multi-lingual projects including Alone and Karai Oram.
His breakthrough came with the 2016 drama Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu, in which he portrayed the character Ranga. The film, written and directed by Hemanth Rao, earned strong box-office and critical attention and brought him widespread recognition. For his performance he received multiple awards in 2017, including Best Actor in a Negative Role at the IIFA Utsavam and SIIMA ceremonies, as well as Best Supporting Actor at the 64th Filmfare Awards South.
Following that success, Vasishta became a regular presence in high-profile Kannada projects. He appears in films such as Sundaranga Jaana, Upendra Matte Baa and Mufti, and continued to take varied supporting roles. In 2017 he featured in the satirical Dayavittu Gamanisi, and in 2018 he was part of the ensemble cast of K.G.F: Chapter 1, a major commercial hit in which he played the role of Kamal.
Vasishta has worked beyond Kannada cinema as well, taking roles in Telugu films and discussing the value of building a pan-India presence through work in multiple languages.
Singing and other creative work
In addition to acting, Vasishta has pursued singing. He recorded his first song for the 2016 Kannada film Kirik Party, and contributed vocals to Dayavittu Gamanisi and the Kirrak Party sequel. He has since sung tracks such as the 6ne Maili title song and Dhwaja, and appears at music concerts.

Vasishta is listed at about 187 cm (1.87 m) tall, with black hair and black eyes.
