Venky Mysore was born on 30 December in Bangalore, Karnataka, and grew up in a conservative, middle-class South Indian family with roots in Chennai. He studied economics with statistics and mathematics in Chennai and later completed an MBA in marketing and finance. Mysore played cricket at a high level during his formative years — representing district and university sides and winning the South Zone Championship while studying in Coimbatore. He spent close to 21 years at MetLife, and later held senior leadership roles including country head for Sun Life Financial’s India business and vice president for Sun Life Financial Asia.
