Career

Antony began his professional life in sound and audio engineering. After training and part-time work in a Kodambakkam studio while at college, he founded an audio studio called Audio Files and worked as a full-time sound engineer. He composed jingles and background music for television shows and collaborated with other sound engineers in the industry.

His entry into television composition included work on the second season of the comedy serial Chinna Papa Periya Papa in 2002. Through the mid-2000s he composed for several TV dramas and title tracks, including Malargal, Kettimelam, Megala, Kana Kaanum Kaalangal and Kadhalikka Neramillai.

Antony’s work in film composition began with projects such as Sukran (2005), where he also wrote and sang songs. He gained wide recognition for singing Nakka Mukka in the 2008 film Kadhalil Vizhunthen; the track brought international attention when it earned a Cannes Golden Lion in 2009 in the Best of Music category and was later played at the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

He continued composing for feature films across the next decade, contributing music to titles including Ninaithale, Vettaikaaran, TN 07 AL 4777, Yuvan Yuvathi, Nambiyaar, Annadurai and Iruvar Ullam. Antony also provided playback singing for a range of films from Dishyum (2006) through Annadurai (2017) and beyond.
