Vikas Sharma was born on 25 February 1984 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his schooling at Sacred Heart High Secondary School in Sitapur and went on to study at Makhanlal Chaturvedi Rashtriya Patrakarita Vishwavidhyalaya, earning an M.A. in Broadcast Journalism between 2004 and 2006. He was Indian by nationality and identified with Hinduism.

Career

Sharma began his media career in 2004 as an announcer with All India Radio. After a year he moved into the private sector, working as an assistant producer at S1 Corporation for about two years. In 2006 he entered television news with TV 100 as a producer and reporter.

In 2008 Sharma joined Total TV for a brief period as a producer, and toward the end of that year he moved to Sadhna News where he transitioned into an on-screen role as a news anchor. In March 2011 he left Sadhna News and served as a news anchor at Janata TV for more than a year.

He continued to shift between channels over the following years: in 2012 he joined India News as an anchor and, in March 2014, took on an anchor-cum-producer role at Samachar Plus. By 2019 he was working with ARG Outlier Media Private Limited as a news anchor for Republic Bharat, where he became known to viewers for his presence on prime-time programming, including the show Yeh Bharat Ki Baat Hain.
