Early life and backgroundYeduguri Sandinti Jaganmohan Reddy was born on 21 December 1972 in Pulivendula village of Kadapa District, Andhra Pradesh. Raised in a political family, he is the son of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, a two‑time chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, and Y. S. Vijayamma, who is also active in politics. Jagan attended Hyderabad Public School and later studied at Nizam College, Hyderabad, where he completed a B.Com in 1990 and an MBA in 1993.
He is married to YS Bharati; the couple married on 28 August 1996 and have two daughters, Varsha and Harsha. Jaganmohan Reddy’s younger sister, YS Sharmila, is also involved in politics. Career
Jaganmohan Reddy began his public political activity campaigning for the Indian National Congress (INC) in 2004. He formally joined the Congress and contested the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from the Kadapa constituency, winning that seat. Jaganmohan Reddy continued his electoral success, winning the 2024 Andhra Pradesh assembly election from the Pulivendula constituency. Following his party’s performance in the 2024 state polls, he resigned as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on 4 June 2024.
