Early life and backgroundYash Pal Dayal was born on 13 December 1997 in Chakia Mohalla, Karbala, Prayagraj (then Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh. Raised in a family with a cricketing background, his father Chandrapal Dayal was a fast bowler who played in university competition. Yash grew interested in the game early, starting organized cricket at eight and appearing in a senior-division match by the age of ten.
He attended Bishop Johnson School and Kendriya Vidyalaya, New Cantt, in Prayagraj before studying for a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences (SHUATS). During his school years he trained under coach Ghulam Murtaza and represented his schools at regional and national levels, captaining the Varanasi team in a national tournament.
Career
Dayal came through the domestic ranks representing SGFI Under-16 and later Uttar Pradesh under-21 and under-23 sides. He made his domestic one-day debut for Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on 21 September 2018 and his Ranji Trophy debut on 1 November 2018. His first T20 appearance for the state came in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 21 February 2019.
