Zaheer Iqbal Ratnasi was born on 10 December 1988 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Raised in a family involved in business, he completed his schooling at Bombay Scottish School in Mumbai. His father, Iqbal Ratnasi, worked as a jeweller and builder, and Zaheer spent several years helping in the family construction business after finishing his formal education.

Growing up in Mumbai, Zaheer had connections to people in the film industry through family friendships. He also developed an interest in fitness and sports early on, taking part in activities such as cricket, table tennis, swimming, marathons and cross-country cycling. Zaheer is a non-vegetarian and has described a fondness for Nutella and chocolate.

Career

Zaheer spent time working alongside Salman Khan in a non-acting capacity before pursuing a film career. For a period of about two to three years he worked as an assistant to Salman, visiting shoots and receiving practical guidance on dialogue delivery, dance and acting. He also assisted on a film set in 2014, working as an assistant director on Jai Ho with Sohail Khan. During this formative phase he attended acting and dance workshops and undertook martial arts training at Salman’s encouragement.

He made his acting debut in 2019 in the Bollywood film Notebook, playing the role of Kabir opposite Pranutan Bahl. The same year he appeared on the cover of Health and Nutrition magazine. In 2020 he took part in the Celebrity Cricket League, a tournament for actors, and in 2020 he began learning to play the guitar.
