Last month, Google said it was redesigning the ‘Home & Nest Community’ and we now know what it looks like.
In 2021, googlenestcommunity.com was introduced to replace support.google.com/googlenest/community. Google switched from its in-house system to a third-party forum service (which was also used by Stadia).
The company has now switched back to support.google.com/googlenest/community, with support articles never leaving the Google domain.
Besides the homepage, there are ten specific product help forums today:
- Thermostats
- Cameras and doorbells
- Speakers & Displays
- Wifi
- Locks and Alarms
- Streamers
- Gemini for Home
- App & Automations
- Account & Subscriptions
- Smart Home for Developers
In making the switch, Google touts the newly updated community’s “fresh look.” This was done to “help us streamline discussions, better organize our content, and reduce spam to ensure you’re only seeing the most helpful and relevant discussions.”
Being able to use your existing Google Account is an upside, with existing Nest community accounts going away. The old set of badges, rank, and status will not be ported over.
As a reminder, information and posts on the old site will be deleted on June 30, 2026.
The last FAQ item suggests that there will be Google Home app integrations in the future.
Question: Will the Google Home & Nest Community be more integrated with the Google Home app?
Answer: This initial launch focuses on core community features, with deeper app integrations planned for later!
The same thing is happening for the Fitbit community on May 19.
