Back in 2022, Huawei announced the Huawei Watch GT Runner, which is still one of my favorite smartwatches ever. It took Huawei four years to present its successor, and it’s finally here, the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2. That watch was announced right before MWC 2026 in Barcelona, and it managed to attract a lot of attention during it. It’s actually one of the most compelling smartwatches at the whole show, which is why we’ve decided to set aside one of our MWC 2026 awards for the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2.
The Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 has a body made out of aerospace-grade titanium
This smartwatch is made out of aerospace-grade titanium, and it does offer some interesting design elements. It looks a bit more futuristic than its predecessor to some added accents, and there are still two buttons on it. The top-right button also acts as a rotating crown, while the bottom-right one is customizable. There is still a circular display on there, and standard connectors for watch bands, 22mm ones.
The Huawei Watch GT Runner, as its name says, is focused on runners most of all. It has the Intelligent Marathon Mode and Ultra-precision Positioning. Intelligent Marathon Mode is essentially event management with a smart training plan and event guidance. It’s made to help you achieve the best run possible. For Ultra-precision Positioning, Huawei used a 3D floating antenna for accurate distance, pace, and route tracking.
It can monitor ECG, HRV, and much more
The watch can monitor ECG, heart rate variability (HRV), and much more. It has a ton of health features, actually, including most of the standard ones you’re used to from Huawei watches. On top of that, Huawei is well-known for offering great battery life in its watches, and this one is no exception. It can keep running up to 32 hours of outdoor workouts, which, with normal non-workout use, means you won’t have to charge it for over a week, probably.
This smartwatch is compatible with both Android and iOS, while it’s only 34.5 grams heavy. It is also quite thin at 10.7mm. Huawei also used its 2nd-gen Kunlun Glass to protect the display, which is proven to be very durable. The display goes up to 3,000 nits of brightness at its peak, which is plenty for outdoor use. We’re only scratching the surface here, this watch has plenty to offer, no matter what way you look at it.
