Lenovo launches an awesome arcade dock for Legion Tab [Gallery]

Lenovo’s latest Legion Tab generation just launched in China this week and, alongside it, an awesome little arcade dock that I would absolutely buy if given the chance.

The “Legion Y700 Tablet Arcade Dock” is essentially an arcade cabinet for Lenovo’s Legion Tab gaming tablet. The 8.8-inch Android tablet slots into the dock, plugs into a USB-C port, and then you’ve got a tiny little arcade ready to play whatever you want. The flexibility of Android, especially for retro gaming emulators, opens up a world of options.

The dock is packed with an arcade-style joystick, eight colored buttons, and five more buttons up top, leaving the door open to basically anything you’d want to play.

I had a true “I want one” Tony Stark moment with this, as this is just so much fun. The design of the arcade dock is packed with whimsy and that retro feel, while packing all of the functionality you’d want. Sure, there are plenty of third-party arcade-style controllers out there, but this is so much more fun.

It’s not pricey, either, coming in at around $60 when converted to US dollars.

But, sadly, this one seems like it’s on sale solely in China. Lenovo lists the arcade dock on its store for ¥399, but there’s no sign of it following the Legion Tab (Gen 5) to a global release. It’s also a new product for Lenovo, available only for the latest generation Legion Tab (sold as the Legion Y700 in China).

If it’s anything like the Legion Tab’s neat Steam Deck-like gaming controller, it’ll probably make its way to AliExpress and, if so, I might just have to pick one up. Going forward, though, I hope Lenovo embraces this fun take on its compact Android gaming tablet on the global market too.
