According to the 2025 Overland Industry Report, over eight million Americans took an overlanding trip in 2024, with that number expected to increase to double digits in the years ahead. Nearly three million identify specifically as overlanders among those eight million, and among those new to the hobby, 72% are Gen Z or Millennials.
Freedom, solitude, adventure, and convenience are all motivating factors for overlanders. About one-third use an SUV, with the top upgrades being tires, suspension, lighting, and roof racks.

Badge of Honor program lets you meet other enthusiasts
Jeep continues to focus on this growing army of overlanders, as well as off-road and outdoor enthusiasts in general, with the release of the 2026 Wrangler Willys 392.
In typical Jeep fashion, it offers bona fide off-pavement chops from the factory and a monster engine, but with tons of room to modify and customize with aftermarket add-ons. Jeep’s Badge of Honor program is also available for Wrangler Willys 392 owners who wish to foster new connections within the wider off-roading community.
The Wrangler Willys 392 is the fourth vehicle in Jeep’s Twelve 4 Twelve series, characterized by its Goldilocks yellow exterior paint and Willys decals. The series began last November and runs through October 2026 to commemorate Jeep’s 85th anniversary.
As part of the campaign, a new model is released on the 12th of every month, with the Wrangler Willys 392 representing February 2026. Jeep also has a fun marketing campaign called “Operation Airdrop” that teases the new models before they arrive.
“Our community has been clear, they want a Wrangler that returns to a more classic, back‑to‑basics formula, paired with the unmistakable power of a V8. The Wrangler Willys 392 is our answer, building on our commitment to expand V8 availability across the Wrangler lineup.” ~ Bob Broderdorf, Jeep Brand CEO.

Powerful Hemi engine
With a two-mode exhaust system
Under the hood, the Jeep Wrangler Willys 392 has a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.
To increase the overall performance and efficiency of the engine, Jeep designers implemented a cold air intake on the hood with a water separator. When moisture is encountered, as is common in the range of weather conditions you encounter when overlanding, the water separator ensures the heavier droplets are filtered out through a specific valve under the hood while the air continues uninterrupted to the engine.
The dual exhaust features a selection mode that lets you toggle between a quieter daily-driver tone and a full-throttle, earth-shaking roar if you want to announce your arrival.
