After officially being teased last year, some basic specs are beginning to emerge
Key new information about Samsung’s long-teased smart glasses—tentatively dubbed Galaxy Glasses—has surfaced, with a new leak suggesting the brand is preparing two distinct frames.
According to this latest report from GalaxyClub, two models are in development: the SM-O200P and SM-O200J. The “P” variant is tipped to feature photochromic transition lenses that adapt to changing light conditions, suggesting Samsung is keen to market these as everyday eyewear rather than occasional-use tech.
However, aside from this, no clear differences have yet been identified between the two versions. So, for now at least, we’re left to speculate whether this relates to the frames’ style, lens type, features, or something else.
A couple of other tidbits do emerge from the report, though, such as the glasses featuring a 12-megapixel camera with autofocus, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity. Crucially, there is no mention of built-in cellular support. This indicates the glasses will rely on a paired smartphone for data, a decision likely made to keep the weight around the reported 50g mark and preserve battery life.
What to expect from Samsung’s debut frames
Unlike the company’s mixed reality headset project, Galaxy XR, these glasses (which were first teased alongside partnerships with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster in October) will almost certainly look to compete with the Meta Ray-Ban demographic.
The lack of independent connectivity reinforces the device’s role as a smartphone companion rather than a replacement. Users can likely expect features similar to current market leaders: quick photo capture, audio playback, and perhaps lightweight AI integration, without the bulk of a full AR display system.

The Wareable view
By following Meta’s lead—focusing on multiple styles, fashion partnerships, and relatively simple features—Samsung has a chance of penetrating the mass market.
If they can leverage the Galaxy ecosystem to offer seamless pairing and unique features (such as live translation displayed on a paired watch or phone), the Galaxy Glasses could become a compelling option in the Android XR space.
