Expected to arrive this summer, we may have our first glimpse of Samsung’s smartwatch plans for 2026
The first concrete evidence of a Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 has emerged, with the two potential smartwatch monikers appearing in the GSMA IMEI database.
The listings essentially confirm the existence of the upcoming devices, with the Galaxy Watch 9 filed under the model number ‘SM-L345U’ and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 tagged as ‘SM-L716U’.
These certifications typically appear 4-6 months before a retail launch, which would place an announcement date in line with the brand’s previous July reveals.
While the database doesn’t explicitly list specs, the appearance of a new model number for the Ultra is significant.
It suggests that the Watch Ultra 2 will be a distinct architectural upgrade rather than the minor refresh it rolled out—which essentially just boosted storage capacity—for the 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra.

Why this leak is a trustworthy one
Leaks like these are significant because IMEI records have historically been very reliable indicators of product roadmaps. They never capture the full story, since they’re just basic filings, but they do all but confirm the devices that consumer brands are preparing.
We won’t know for sure what these upcoming smartwatches will look like until Samsung gives the official reveal—again, likely to occur this July—but it is also possible that more leaks emerge between now and then. Previous years would suggest we should have a very clear idea in a couole of months time.
For now, though, these IMEI entries are the clearest sign yet that Samsung’s next wave of watches is at least on the horizon.
