Google I/O is one of Google’s major annual events, with announcements for Android, Google services, Chromebooks, smart home devices, and (occasionally) Pixel hardware. Now, we have a date for the 2026 event.
Google has confirmed that this year’s Google I/O show will take place on May 19 and May 20, 2026. It will be hosted in the usual location of the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, and all the information will be available at the official Google I/O website.
The company said in a blog post, “Tune in to learn about our latest AI breakthroughs and updates in products across the company, from Gemini to Android and more. The event will feature keynote addresses from Google leaders, fireside chats, product demos and more.”

Google already confirmed that the Pixel 10a will be revealed on February 18, 2026, and flagship Pixel phones usually arrive later in the year. That makes new hardware products unlikely for this year, especially since there are no immediate plans for a Pixel Tablet sequel. Still, there could be new smart home hardware, or something else.
Google I/O is usually focused on software announcements, so you can expect news for Android, Search, Photos, Docs, and Chrome, among other apps and services. The first Android 17 beta was supposed to go live on February 11, but ended up arriving a bit later. Google I/O is usually where we learn more about the design and functional improvements for the next big Android release. Personally, I’m hoping for more improvements and headsets for Android XR.

It’s that time of year when Google releases a budget version of its most recent ‘flagship’ phone. The Pixel 10 series launched last Fall, and now we’re getting our first official look at the Pixel 10a. Google is teasing us with some close-up shots, but not much else.
We’re still in the middle of the generative AI hype cycle, so you can definitely expect to see more news around Gemini, NotebookLM, and other AI-powered services. Last year’s event was overloaded with AI announcements, and marked the wider rollout of AI Overviews in Search, among other updates.
You can head over to the official Google I/O website for more information, including registration details. The main event will likely be broadcasted on the main Google channel on YouTube.
