As a side sleeper, I need a mattress that cushions my hips and shoulders. That’s where pressure often builds up and I’m forced to toss and turn all night. I’ve tried hybrid mattress, all-foam beds and even latex models — but the Saatva Classic, now $400 off for Black Friday, has been the most comfortable yet.
And it’s not a surprise. We’ve rated the Saatva Classic as the best mattress of the year four years in a row, and it’s continued to impress every single member of our expert mattress testing team. And, while it is one of the best luxury mattresses you can buy, we believe it’s still good value for what you get.
However, like the mattress industry as a whole, Saatva has been impacted by tariffs. During the summer, the price of the Saatva rose by $40 from $2,099 for a queen to $2,139. Here’s why I think the Saatva Black Friday mattress sale is the best deal you’re going to get.

Why the Saatva Classic suits side sleepers
This year’s best mattresses for side sleepers excel in pressure relief. This refers to how well a mattress is at keeping your weight evenly distributed across the bed while remaining supportive.
When sleeping on your back, your weight is pretty evenly distributed already. However, side sleepers will notice that pressure builds in the hips, shoulders and knees — especially if you’re on a mattress that’s too firm.
During our lab testing of the Saatva Classic, we assessed pressure relief by using a laser to measure spinal alignment. Here, I lay on my side and the laser pointed through the middle of my back in a straight line, indicating perfect spinal alignment. If we observed a slant in the line or an angle, that would mean some parts of my body were dipping more than others, which could have led to a build up of pressure. The Saatva Classic is a hybrid mattress that combines coils, memory foam and a Euro top. This 3” gel-infused and zoned pillow top cradles the body, offering the perfect ‘give’ to stop pressure and strain building in areas of the body.
However, beneath the plush pillow top is a high-density memory foam lumbar crown and Zoned Active Spinal Wire — basically, these mean that your body will be very well supported, remaining elevated and aligned while still feeling cushioned.
When I lay on the Saatva Classic, it almost felt like I was weightless. The way the padded Euro top layer cradled my body meant that I felt zero pressure and I was immediately comfortable.
Why could this be the lowest price?
We’ve already seen one price rise from Saatva so far this year, and with global prices continuing to increase, whether from inflation or tariffs, I don’t think this decision will ever be reversed.
Also, the global trend of increasing prices means that it’s not out of the question for Saatva’s prices to rise again in the next couple of years.
So, even though it’s not the lowest price we’ve ever seen for a queen, I don’t think you’ll see mattress sales discounting the price lower than $1,739 again.
