Verizon experienced a severe network outage some days ago, leaving users without access to data or cell service entirely. Verizon has since offered users a $20 credit, and Visible is tagging on since its users were affected as well.
The outage users experienced reportedly lasted 10 hours, spanning from the middle of the day to late in the evening. During that time, Android users saw only a slashed cell icon on their devices while iPhone users were greeted with an arguably more terrifying “SOS” icon.
The problem spanned beyond just Verizon customers, as Visible is part of the company’s network. Yesterday, users started getting texts from Visible, noting that they would get a $5 credit to make up for the loss in coverage.
Yesterday we let you down and for that we are sorry. We are giving you a $5 credit towards your next month of service that can be redeemed after Jan 16 when paying with a credit card online. This credit isn’t meant to make up for what happened. But it’s a way of acknowledging your time and showing that this matters to us. If you’re still having trouble connecting, please restart your device (power down and power back on).
Verizon addressed those affected by the outage with a $20 credit for the inconvenience of losing access to calls, texts, and the internet. The credit needs to be redeemed through Verizon’s app, but it’s something, right?
Visible’s credit, on the other hand, can be redeemed during payment. It doesn’t appear that automatic payments will apply this credit, and it needs to be applied manually.
The disparity in credit could be attributed to the fact that Visible’s fee is a fraction of the cost of Verizon’s plans, though the outage affects everyone equally.
