WHOOP has started rolling out two distinct AI driven updates at the same time, one through a limited AI beta invite and another inside the Strength Trainer feature.
If you’re already part of the WHOOP community, these recent moves probably feel like a natural next step. The AI Beta Program is aimed at users who have been getting the most out of existing AI features, like the WHOOP Coach. From what people are saying online, the invite emails mention some early experiments and direct chats with the dev team.
However, they don’t really clarify what the new features are, which has left some folks a bit confused about what actually changes when they accept the invite. One Instagram post from WHOOP hints at a beta launch for AI-driven health insights, emphasizing privacy and user-owned data.
One thing that’s clear from the invite language is that WHOOP sees this as a bigger initiative, not just a one-off feature release. It looks like they’ll be experimenting with AI across the platform, likely affecting different parts of the app over time.
Strength trainer gets a more hands on AI
At the same time, WHOOP users have started spotting a much more concrete AI upgrade inside Strength Trainer. This appears to be rolling out independently of the invite emails and is tied to the existing Strength Trainer beta environment.
The new feature lets you create a complete strength workout using just your words or adding screenshot from another app. The AI then gives you a fully structured workout plan that includes exercises, sets, rep ranges, and even suggested weights based on your past performance. It then auto adds those in strength trainer. You can ask WHOOP to look over your recent sessions, consider your recovery state, and build a workout based on a goal, like focusing on your upper body.
What’s really impressive here is how aware the AI is of your context. It takes into account your recent lifts, volume trends and recovery status. For example, if you’re having a tough recovery day, it might lower the intensity while still helping you progress.
And if you need to tweak your session, you can easily do that with follow-up prompts. You can ask for a lighter version, shorten the workout, or change your focus without having to start from scratch. This keeps the AI integrated into your workflow instead of just being a separate assistant.
Our takeaway
These two updates are connected, but they’re not quite the same. The AI beta invite seems like a top-down program meant to test broader concepts and gather structured feedback. On the other hand, the changes in Strength Trainer appear to be a feature that’s ready for a broader launch.
Earlier WHOOP AI features were all about explaining data, answering questions about your strain or sleep, and summarizing trends. But the new Strength Trainer function pushes AI into decision-making territory, actively influencing what users do next. That’s a step up from just answering queries.
Both the beta invite and the Strength Trainer updates highlight WHOOP’s ongoing effort to integrate AI, making it easier for users to make sense of their data in useful ways. If you’re a WHOOP user, keep an eye on your app notifications. You might be getting in on these changes soon!
