Looking to get your action fix? This year’s lineup of superhero shows, from Marvel, DC, and beyond, can help with that. From the return of some of the best comic characters to the introduction of new heroes, 2026 is a great year to be a fan of superhero television.
A beloved hit series is coming to an end, along with the expansion of major universes that will tie into films and other shows. Here are the best superhero shows to add to your watch list.
Wonder Man
Wonder Man is not your typical superhero show; rather, it’s one of the most interesting ones you can stream this year. It may not have the same heaviness that some of the other shows on this list do, which adds to its appeal. Wonder Man follows a struggling actor, Simon Williams (Watchmen’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), hiding an explosive and mysterious superpower, as he auditions for the lead role in the remake of the superhero film Wonder Man. He is joined by a returning MCU favorite, Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), who you may remember from Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Simon’s power, which he does not know the limits of, is kept concealed, given the Doorman Clause, which prohibits superpowered humans from the universe’s fictional Hollywood. Wonder Man ties together Simon’s journey as an actor to his past, family, and abilities.
Wonder Man premieres on January 27 on Disney+.

Lanterns

Starting DC’s show lineup strong this year is Lanterns, which will be the third television series in the DCU. Lanterns is based on the Green Lantern comic book series and will follow two Lanterns, Hal Jordan (Friday Night Lights’ Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Mufasa: The Lion King’s Aaron Pierre). In the story, veteran Lantern and former test pilot Jordan trains rookie Stewart (who will replace Jordan), building a bond along the way. The two Lanterns soon find themselves tangled up in a mysterious murder in Nebraska.
Lanterns will see a familiar face from the Green Lantern Corps with the return of Guy Gardner (Castle’s Nathan Fillion), who was first introduced in Superman (2025). Lanterns is expected to arrive toward the end of the summer on HBO Max.

The final chapter of the WandaVision trilogy will be airing this year, with VisionQuest giving us closure for certain characters. VisionQuest will see the return of some previously seen Marvel characters, including F.R.I.D.A.Y (Tony Stark’s AI assistant) and Ultron, among others, as Vision sees the personifications of other AI programs in his mind. Vision’s journey in the show has been compared to Spock’s arc in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, as stated by showrunner Terry Matalas, making it a show to look forward to if you enjoy Star Trek and the MCU.
VisionQuest is slated to premiere in late 2026 on Disney+.

Satirical superhero stories are one of the most interesting niches in superhero television, and there is one that hits the nail on the head.
