Asees Kaur was born on 26 September 1988 in Panipat, Haryana. Raised in a middle-class family, she grew up in Panipat and completed her schooling at Bal Vikas School there. She later attended SD (PG) College in Panipat and holds an M.Com degree. Music was part of her childhood: she began formal training at age five under Ustad Puran Shahkoti and was encouraged by her father, Harjinder Singh, to sing Gurbani.
