Early life and background

Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia was born on 19 November 1985 in New Delhi, India. Raised in the capital, he attended Bal Bharti School in Pitampura and later enrolled at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, though he left after a short period. He also studied at PEC University, Chandigarh, where his exposure to music deepened. Originally interested in mathematics and with aspirations that once included becoming an IAS officer, he eventually decided to pursue music full time. He adopted the stage name Badshah after initially performing under the name Cool Equal.

Career

Badshah began his career as a rapper and worked early on alongside Yo Yo Honey Singh as part of the group Mafia Mundeer. His first recorded rap outing dates to 2007 with the track "Soda Whiskey," and he released an album titled Born Star in 2012. Over the years his output crossed over into Bollywood, with his music featuring in film soundtracks including Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Kapoor & Sons, Khoobsurat, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sanam Re, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Veere Di Wedding and Nawabzaade.
