Early life and backgroundJalaj Sahai Saxena was born on 15 December 1986 in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. He grew up in Bhilai and attended local schools, including B.S.P. English Medium Middle School and BSP Senior Secondary School. He later studied at Kalyan College, Bhilai. Saxena began playing cricket as a child and progressed into competitive club cricket in his hometown. His older brother Jatin Saxena is also a domestic cricketer who represented Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Career
Saxena is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler who has made his name across India’s domestic competitions as a genuine all-rounder. He made his Ranji Trophy debut for Madhya Pradesh in December 2005 at the age of 19, facing Kerala in his first match.
After more than a decade with Madhya Pradesh, Saxena moved to Kerala ahead of the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy season. He explained that the move was driven by a desire to play a more prominent role in a smaller team and to seek greater recognition for his performances.
His domestic record includes several standout seasons.
