Early life and backgroundJubin Nautiyal was born on 14 June 1989 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Raised in the city that he still calls his hometown, he showed an interest in music from an early age and later took music as a primary subject while studying at Welham Boys' School in Dehradun. He attended St. Joseph's Academy in Dehradun during his schooling years and went on to study at Mithibai College in Mumbai.
He comes from a family active in business and politics. His father, Ram Sharan Nautiyal, is a businessman who has also been involved in regional politics. His mother is Neena Nautiyal, described as a businesswoman. Jubin follows the Hindu faith and his zodiac sign is Gemini.
Career
Jubin trained in both Indian and Western musical styles. He spent time refining his practice after meeting A. R. Rahman while in college; Rahman encouraged him to continue rigorous vocal practice. Jubin also pursued further Western-music training at a music academy in Chennai, where he studied under guitarist Prasanna. He learned multiple instruments, including guitar, piano, harmonium, drums and flute, alongside his vocal work.
His first credited playback song came in 2014 with Ek Mulaqat from the film Sonali Cable. That year provided an initial breakthrough, and he went on to sing several songs for Bollywood. Among the tracks he is widely associated with are Meherbani from The Shaukeens (2014), Bandeyaa from Jazbaa (2015) and The Humma Song from Ok Jaanu (2016).
