Karamvir Singh, who performs under the name Kambi and is also referred to as Kambi Rajpuriya, was born on 20 February in the village of Rajpur Bhayian in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India. He grew up in that same village and attended Apeejay Education Society in Jalandhar for his school education. His higher education includes studies at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University and Lyallpur Khalsa College in Jalandhar, Guru Nanak College in Phagwara, and Cambrian College in Sudbury, Canada. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Bachelor of Commerce, and a diploma in Hotel Management.

Kambi was raised in a Sikh family; his father is Pritam Singh and his mother’s name is not publicly listed. From childhood he sang shabads during Prabhat Feri and learned vocal skills from his mother. Alongside music, he developed an interest in sports—particularly football—and played at the under-16 national level in India. He remains fond of dancing and also cites ice hockey among his hobbies.
