Kinjal Dave was born Joshi Kinjalben Laljibhai on 24 November 1999 in Patan, Gujarat, and grew up in Banaskantha. She comes from a large, lower-middle-class household and was exposed to music from childhood; her father and uncle wrote and sang Gujarati songs, and she began performing at age seven, singing bhajans at local Navratri celebrations.

She attended Maniba School in New Naroda, Ahmedabad, and later studied at Patanjali Institute of Professional Studies in Gujarat where she completed her graduation. Kinjal follows Hinduism and identifies with the Advaita Brahmin community.
