Lakshmi Menon was born on 19 May 1996 in Kochi, Kerala. Raised in a family with artistic ties—her father Ramakrishnan is a Dubai-based artist and her mother Usha Menon is a dance teacher—Lakshmi grew up learning dance and performing from a young age. She trained in Kuchipudi and took part in school and college events, which helped bring her early visibility.

Career

Lakshmi’s screen career began when director Vinayan noticed her performance on television and cast her in the Malayalam film Raghuvinte Swantham Raziya (2011), in which she played the role of Priya. Still in school at the time, she later described being young when that opportunity arrived and said her mother encouraged her to try acting.

Following her Malayalam debut, Lakshmi transitioned into Tamil cinema and earned wider recognition for her role as Archana in Sundarapandian (2012). The film brought several awards, including a Best Actress recognition at the Vikatan Awards, a Promising Female Newcomer honour at The Chennai Times Film Awards, and a Best Female Debut award at the 60th Filmfare Awards South. She also received accolades for her work in Kumki, which won a Best Actress award at the Norway Tamil Film Festival Awards and contributed to a later state-level Best Actress citation covering both Sundarapandian and Kumki.
