Early life and backgroundMonaz Mevawala was born on 26 December 1985 in Mumbai, where she was also raised. She attended Jai Hind College in Mumbai and later studied at Gujarat Law Society University in Ahmedabad. Her father, Firdaus Mevawalla, is an actor; her mother, Asha Firdaus Mevawalla, worked at the Central Bank of India. Monaz comes from a Parsi background.
From a young age she trained as a dancer and later taught dance at the Shiamak Davar Institute for The Performing Arts between 1999 and 2002. She is proficient in a variety of dance styles including contemporary jazz, street jazz, hip hop, Bollywood, salsa and jive. Dancing, reading and cooking are among the hobbies she lists.
Career
Monaz began acting on television as a teenager. Her earliest credited TV work includes the 2004 series Kittie Party on Zee TV; she was about 15 when she made her on-screen debut. In the mid-2000s she appeared in several Hindi television series including Chupke Chupke and Yes Boss on SAB TV, Risshton Ki Dor and Jabb Love Hua, and worked on comedy and drama formats such as The Great Indian Comedy Show. In 2007 she played Bipasha Mitra in the Zee TV series Ardhangini – Ek Khoobsurat Jeevan Saathi, and the following year she took a lead part in the Sony Entertainment Television drama Meet Mila De Rabba.
Her television work extends across genres: she has performed in episodic crime-drama entries such as Saavdhan India and FIR, appeared on talk and variety shows, and in 2012 took on a well-received negative role as Jharna Raichand in Jhilmil Sitaaron Ka Aangan Hoga on Sahara One. Other TV credits include Anhoniyon Ka Andhera (Colors TV) and Maan Na Maan Main Tera Mehmaan (Disney India).
In addition to television, Monaz has worked in short films and regional cinema. She played Kenny in the 2013 short The Mobius Strip and portrayed Kainaaz in the 2019 short New Year… Ek Nayi Shuruaat, which premiered on SonyLIV. She entered Gujarati cinema with Hun Mari Wife Ne Ano Husband and appeared in Jaysuk Zdpayo (2022), playing the character Sweety.
