Nia Sharma (Actress) Biography

Nia Sharma, born Neha Sharma on 17 September 1990 in Delhi, is an Indian television and web actress known for bold on-screen choices and a steady presence—

Early life and background
Nia Sharma was born Neha Sharma on 17 September 1990 in Delhi, India. Raised in a Punjabi family, she attended St. Xavier’s School in Delhi and later graduated in Mass Communication from Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS) in Rohini. Her upbringing in Delhi and early interest in media shaped her original ambition to pursue journalism before she moved into acting.

Career
Nia began her acting journey in 2010 with the television serial Kaali – Ek Agnipariksha, playing the role of Anu. She later gained recognition for her portrayal of Manvi Chaudhary in Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, a role that included a notable and widely discussed moment when she appeared bald on screen — a first for an Indian TV actress in that context.

Her television work expanded beyond serials into reality and variety programming. In 2016 she appeared on Comedy Nights Bachao Season 2, and in 2017 took part in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 8, where she reached the finals. She also featured on Rasoi Ki Jung Mummyon Ke Sung in 2017. Nia has been a familiar face in advertising, appearing in commercials for brands such as Quco Hair Perfume and Sprite.

In the digital space, Nia acted in the web series Twisted (Seasons 1 and 2) in 2017 and 2018, marking her presence in episodic streaming content as well. Her career has combined dramatic television roles, reality television, web series work, and commercial appearances, demonstrating versatility across formats.

Public profile
Physically, Nia is listed at approximately 5'4" (163 cm) and 50 kg (110 lbs), with dark brown eyes and black hair. Her on-screen name differs from her birth name; she chose “Nia” because she found “Neha” to be common. She trained in belly dancing and is known to enjoy hobbies such as skating, cooking, driving, clicking selfies, shopping, and collecting English idioms and phrases. She learned to swim to overcome an early fear of water and is an avid biker who enjoys riding for leisure. Nia is also a dog lover and keeps pet puppies.

Personal life and interests
Nia’s mother is named Usha Sharma; her father died when she was a child. She has an elder brother, Vinay Sharma, who works in an MNC in Delhi. She follows Hinduism and is listed as unmarried. Reported romantic relationships include Varun Jain and Kushal Tandon. Her food preferences include Hakka noodles, rajma chawal, and sitaphal ice-cream; she enjoys Italian, Indian, and continental cuisines. Fashion and brand preferences noted include Forever New, Zara, and Guess.

Awards and recognition
Over the years Nia has received several television awards. Early in her career she earned recognition for her work in Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, and for Jamai Raja she received awards including Popular categories at Zee Rishtey and the Indian Television Academy Award for Gr8! Face Female. She has also been acknowledged for her style, winning a Television Style Award for Best Stylish Beti.

Controversy
In July 2024 Nia Sharma was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering investigation that involved allegations around unlawful online forex trading through overseas brokers. The inquiry included other television personalities as well.

Latest updates
Nia continues to be active across media formats, with past web-series and television roles complemented by advertising work and reality show appearances. Her willingness to take creative risks and a varied portfolio of projects have maintained her visibility in the Indian entertainment industry.
