Amit Bhalla, who performs under the stage name Ninja, was born on 6 March 1991 in Dholewal Chownk, Ludhiana, Punjab. He grew up in a lower-middle-class household; his father owned a small music cafe where young Amit listened to traditional Punjabi music and developed a deep interest in singing. School performances and inter-school competitions began to shape his musical path: classmates and teachers encouraged him after an early stage appearance in eighth grade, and he won several prizes for singing during his school years.
