She trained under coaches including Nagaraju, Satish Reddy and Krishna Rao while practising at the NAD Academy and the Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association ground. Progressing through district-level cricket, she made her under-19 debut for Andhra Pradesh in 2021 and earned a place in the Zonal Cricket Academy.
Her pace attracted attention as she was clocked bowling at around 110 km/h, which led to selection for a National Cricket Academy camp and subsequent opportunities with India’s age-group teams. In 2022 she was part of India’s under-19 setup for a five-match T20 series against New Zealand and played for India B Women Under-19 in the Women’s U19 T20 Quadrangular Series, where she delivered economical spells including dot balls and multiple dismissals in appearances.
Shabnam was included in India’s squad for the inaugural Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup in 2023 and appeared in two matches during the tournament. In February 2023 she entered the Women’s Premier League auction and was acquired by the Gujarat Giants. She continued to be involved in the India under-19 program and was a member of the Indian U-19 women’s team that won the T20 World Cup in February 2025; the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced a cash prize for the team’s members following that victory.
