Early life and backgroundShivya Pathania was born on 26 July 1991 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Raised in that city, she completed her higher education at Chitkara University in Chandigarh and holds an engineering degree. Her family includes her father Subhash Pathania, mother Pushpa Pathania, an elder sister Divya Pathania who is an advocate, and a younger brother.
Shivya showed an early interest in dance and was a studious child. She experienced weight-related teasing at school as a youngster, an episode that led her to change schools. Later, her participation in local pageants and festivals shifted the course of her life: she won the Miss Shimla title in 2013 and took home additional titles at the International Summer Festival in Shimla, including Miss Oye and Miss Beautiful Smile.
Career
Pathania moved into modelling and then acting after her pageant success. She made her television debut in 2014 with the role of Arzoo Nausheen Khan on the series Humsafars. Though initially hesitant to relocate to Mumbai and unsure about her prospects, she auditioned from Shimla and earned the part.
Following Humsafars, she went on to play Sanchi Aryan Sethia in Ek Rishta Saajhedari Ka (2016–2017), a part that became one of her better-known television appearances.
