Thomas Kevin Curran was born on 12 March 1995 in Cape Town, Cape Province. He grew up in a household steeped in cricket: his father, Kevin Curran, played and coached for Zimbabwe, and other members of his family also represented Zimbabwe. Tom is the oldest of three brothers; his younger brothers Ben and Sam Curran have also pursued professional cricket careers.
