Why I love the Hatch Restore 3
I’m an early bird and dislike dark mornings with a passion. But the Hatch Restore 3 has alleviated some of my misery as we head into winter, thanks to its authentic sunrise simulation and calming audio alarm tracks. At least with birds tweeting and my bedroom aglow with warm light, I can wake up pretending the morning isn’t so dark and dull outside my window.
The Restore 3 is complete with effective sunrise and sunset features, an audio library to replace your jarring alarm and help you unwind at night (there’s sleep sounds, meditations and podcasts to choose from), and it looks chic at your bedside.

You can customize both your wind-down and wake-up routines (light colors and audio) to suit your preferences, whether you’re wanting to wake up to bright colors and house music or warm tones and nature sounds. My fellow tech reviewer Ashley loves the new Twilight wake-up and unwind routines.
The light gradually gets brighter over a duration you can set (between 5 and 60 minutes) leading up to your desired wake-up time, to help naturally pull you from sleep rather than jolting you awake mid sleep cycle. This way your body is ready to wake up by the time your alarm sounds and you should feel less groggy when you do.
While you can control using buttons on the clock itself (an upgrade on the Restore 3 compared to the Restore 2), you will need to use the smartphone app and to understand how Bluetooth connectivity works to set up your device and the routines you want for the morning and evening. And, as we mentioned, you’ll have to pay the subscription fee to use all the features available.
