Early life and background

Ishita Dutta was born on 26 August 1990 in Jamshedpur, then part of Bihar (now Jharkhand). Raised in a Bengali family, she attended Dakshin Bharat Mahila Samaj English School in Jamshedpur and later pursued studies in media. She is the younger sister of actress Tanushree Dutta and grew up with an interest in performing, although she has said she was initially shy about entering the entertainment industry.

Career

Ishita began her acting journey after training at Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares school, following encouragement from family. Her first credited screen role came in 2012 with the Telugu film Chanakyudu, in which she played the character Swetha. That same year she worked on a project titled Yenidu Manasali alongside her sister, but the film did not reach release.

Following her Telugu debut, Ishita expanded into multiple regional film industries as well as television. She has worked in Kannada cinema, notably in Raja Rajendra (2015), and made her Bollywood debut with the Hindi film Drishyam (2015). On television, she appeared in the Hindi serial Ek Ghar Banaunga (2013) and earlier played a lead in Rishton Ka Saudagar – Baazigar, where she met her future husband while shooting.

Their family has since grown: they have a son, Vaayu Sheth, born on 19 July 2023, and a daughter born in June 2025. Ishita’s parents are Tapan Dutta, a former employee at the Life Insurance Corporation, and Shikha Dutta, a homemaker.
