Ketki Dave was born on 13 August 1960 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and grew up in the city she continues to call home. She comes from a family with deep roots in theatre and performance: her father, Praveen Joshi, worked as a theatre director, and her mother, Sarita Joshi, is an established actress. Ketki’s sister, Purbi Joshi, is also an actress. Her cultural and artistic upbringing helped shape a career across stage, television and film.

Career

Ketki began her screen career in the early 1980s. Her first credited Bollywood appearance was in the 1983 film Kissi Se Na Kehna, where she played the role of Shyamoli. Over the years she has performed in Hindi films including Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa (2001), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Money Hai Toh Honey Hai (2008) and Hello! Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hain (2010). She has also worked in Punjabi cinema and in regional Gujarati productions, demonstrating a versatility across languages.

On television, Ketki made an early appearance in the Hindi serial Hasratein (1996–1997). She achieved widespread recognition for her portrayal of Daksha Himmat Virani on the long-running soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which aired from 2000 to 2008. In Gujarati television she appeared in the series 1760 Saasumaa (2014–2015). Beyond scripted work, Ketki has appeared on several reality and entertainment shows, including participations in Nach Baliye Season 2 (2006), Comedy Circus Season 1 (2007), Bigg Boss Season 2 (2008) and Comedy Circus – Kaante Ki Takkar (2008).
