Mahalakshmi Shankar was born on 21 March 1990 in Chennai, India. Raised in the city she continues to call home, she completed her schooling at Velankanni Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai. For higher education she attended Women's Christian College, Chennai, and later earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
