Early life and background

Riva Arora was born in Delhi and is based in Mumbai. Her mother is Nisha Arora, who works as an advocate, and she has a sister named Muskan Arora. Riva's father is deceased. Public details about her exact date of birth have not been confirmed; questions about her age were widely reported in 2022 and 2023, and she indicated that her precise age would be revealed later.

Riva grew up with an interest in performing arts. She is known to enjoy singing and dancing, and she follows a vegetarian diet. Her eye and hair colour are both described as black. She has been given nicknames such as Rave and Riv in public profiles.

Career

Riva’s screen career began very early. She made her Bollywood debut as a child in the film Rockstar (2011). After that early film appearance she moved into modelling and advertising work, appearing in numerous television commercials and print campaigns. She has been the face of the Biba clothing brand on more than one occasion and has worked on ads for brands including Flipkart and LG.

On television Riva has appeared in the series Mere Papa Hero Hiralal (2018), playing the role of Gungun. She has acted in short films and international projects as well, credited in the short film Naina (2018) in the title role and in a Hollywood project listed as Best Friends (2018). In addition to those credits, Riva has been associated with several Bollywood productions over the years, including Mom (2017), Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020).

Her early start in the industry is noted: she was reportedly about one and a half years old when selected for her role in Rockstar. Beyond film and television, Riva has a wide portfolio of modelling assignments and print work and has served as a brand ambassador for clothing labels.

Riva has built a significant social media presence. Her following has been highlighted in media reports and led to notable gifts from family: after her Instagram account reached a milestone of 10 million followers, her mother gifted her a black Audi in March 2023.

She has received recognition in the form of popular-vote style awards; one listing names her as the most popular actress of the year 2021. In March 2025 she was reported to have received an honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) in Digital Influence & Women’s Empowerment from Adi Shankar Vedic University.

Controversies reported in the press have also formed part of her public narrative. In late 2022, an Instagram Reel featuring Riva alongside a much older television actor prompted criticism from online users and media outlets concerned about the way a minor was portrayed.

Riva has mentioned favourite foods such as dal makhani and paneer, and an anecdote from her mother recounts that she once ate dal makhani for an extended stretch while on a shoot. She counts actors Ranbir Kapoor and Adnan Siddiqui among favourites and has been credited with early school-level accomplishments, including an award referenced as Miss Mother’s Pride during her school days.
