Saloni Khanna (Model) Biography
Indian model and actress Saloni Khanna transitioned from an engineering background to a successful career in modelling, music videos, web series and short–
Early life and backgroundSaloni Khanna was born on 4 March 1984 in New Delhi, India, and comes from a Punjabi family. Raised in New Delhi, she completed a B. Tech in Electronics and Instrumentation from NorthCap University, Gurugram. While still in school she trained in classical Kathak and completed a diploma in the dance form during her ninth grade.
Career
After graduating, Saloni began her professional life as a Java developer with Tata Consultancy Services in New Delhi. She worked there only briefly before deciding the corporate environment was not for her. Initially preparing to pursue an MBA, she encountered a pause before joining business school; during that interval she was signed by Purple Thoughts, a Delhi-based modelling agency. That opportunity exposed her to fashion shows, shoots and travel, and she ultimately chose to pursue modelling full time instead of continuing with an MBA.
Her early on-camera work included music videos such as Pyar Vich and PYT–Pretty Young Thing in 2016. She went on to appear on magazine covers and walked ramps for designers at major Indian fashion events including India Couture Week, India Fashion Week and Lakme Fashion Week across multiple seasons between 2016 and 2019.
Saloni moved into acting alongside her modelling work. Her screen debut is listed as the music video Chakkwein Suit (2015) and she later appeared in web series and short films. Among her screen credits are Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala (2019) on ZEE5, The Heartbreak Hotel (2019) on SonyLIV, The Raikar Case (2020) on Voot, and several 2021 projects including Broken But Beautiful on ALTBalaji, Sunflower on ZEE5 and Campus Diaries on MX Player — the latter earning notable appreciation for her portrayal of Sushmita. She and her husband also worked together on The Heartbreak Hotel and the short film The Elephant in the Room (2021).
Her short film work continued with The Good News (2022), which received festival recognition, and in 2023 she appeared in the short film My Father’s Doctor as Roohi. In November 2022 she performed in the stage musical Disco Dancer in London. Saloni has also been featured in commercials for brands such as Sunsilk, OLX, Birla Cement, Bombay Shaving Company, Tanishq, Muthoot Finance and Tata Cliq.
Public profile
Physically, Saloni is listed as 175 cm (5'9") tall with an approximate weight of 55 kg and figure measurements reported as 33-26-34. Her eye colour is described as dark brown and her hair as light brown. She lists hobbies that include dancing, playing the ukulele, singing, practising yoga, travelling and exploring new places. She has two pet cats and often shares images of them on social media.
Personal life
Saloni is married to actor Viraf Patel. The couple met while shooting in Mumbai in 2019 and later married in an intimate ceremony at Bandra Court, Mumbai on 6 May 2021; they had announced their engagement on 20 February 2021. She enjoys occasional alcoholic beverages and has shown an interest in social causes, participating in charitable activities.
Latest updates
In 2021 she played roles across multiple streaming projects and earned particular recognition for Campus Diaries on MX Player. She continued to work in short films and live performance, appearing in The Good News (2022) which went on to win festival awards, performing in London’s Disco Dancer musical event in November 2022, and acting in the 2023 short film My Father’s Doctor.
Saloni’s path from engineering graduate and brief software stint to a career in modelling and acting highlights a deliberate shift driven by on-the-job exposure to fashion and performance, supplemented by theatre training taken after her move to Mumbai.
