Early life and background

Sreejita De was born on 19 July 1989 in Haldia, West Bengal. Raised in her hometown, she attended St. Xavier’s School in Haldia before moving to Mumbai for higher education. She studied at Ramnarain Ruia College and completed a Bachelor of Mass Communication. She is the only child of Swapan Kumar De and Lipi De.

Career

De entered acting as a teenager, making her debut in the episodic horror series Ssshhhh… Phir Koi Hai in 2006. She went on to appear in a string of television programmes, including Annu Ki Ho Gayee Wah Bhai Wah (2007), Piya Rangrezz (2015), Tum Hi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tumhi (2015), Koi Laut Ke Aaya Hai (2017) and a lead stint in Uttaran, in which she played the role of Mukta in 2017.

Her film debut came in 2008 with Tashaan, and she later appeared in movies such as Luv Ka The End (2011) and Monsoon Shootout (2017). De has also worked in digital projects: she made her web debut with the mini series Untouchables (2018), playing Dr. Natasha Narang, and later appeared in the ZEE5 series Naxalbari (2020) as Prakruti.

In 2022 she participated in the reality series Bigg Boss 16, explaining that she chose the show to give audiences a chance to see her outside scripted roles. Her work in television was recognised in 2019 when she won an Indian Television Academy Award for her performance in the series Nazar.
