Political Shakeup in Tamil Nadu: 15 Former Legislators Join BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made a significant move in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, welcoming 15 former MLAs and an ex-MP from the state into its fold. This move comes as the ruling party seeks to strengthen its presence in the southern state ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Most of the new members hail from the AIADMK, a former ally of the BJP. Their joining ceremony was held in Delhi, attended by prominent figures like Union Ministers Rajeev Chandrasekhar and L Murugan, along with Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai.

Annamalai expressed his enthusiasm, stating that these experienced leaders will bolster the BJP and support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s bid for a third term. He also took a veiled dig at the ruling DMK and AIADMK, hinting at dissatisfaction with their governance.

Chandrasekhar, another prominent attendee, emphasized the event’s significance, highlighting Modi’s rising popularity in Tamil Nadu, traditionally not a BJP stronghold. He even predicted that many new seats for the BJP and NDA might come from this state, potentially contributing to the projected 370-seat win for the BJP and 400+ for the NDA in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

This event marks a major development in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, potentially altering the power dynamics in the state. It will be interesting to see how this move impacts the upcoming elections and the future of Tamil Nadu politics.
