Ever since I got my new home, I’ve spent a lot of time on DIY projects. From smaller things like replacing cabinet handles to larger projects like tackling smart door locks, it always feels like there is a never-ending list of things to get done around here. Between DIY projects and PC building, I decided to invest in something that has come in handy more times than I could have ever imagined — an electric screwdriver.
I’m not talking about a power drill or anything like that either. While my Black and Decker drill still gets plenty of use for other projects around the house, my Fanttik E1 Max is a jack of all trades. While it may look small, it’s rather mighty and comes in handy, all without needing to lug around a tote bag full of manual screwdrivers whenever you need to work on something.

Fun fact, this is actually my third electric screwdriver set that I’ve bought. The first one I gave away to my parents because they really liked how it worked, and I figured it might help them get some stuff done more easily. The second was lost during the move into my new home. But as soon as we had our mailbox up and ready, I had another one of these on the way. It’s been attached to my hip like the big iron for that Arizona Ranger ever since, and I don’t plan on giving it up.
It’s officially rated at 0.05 N·m on the lowest setting and at 0.2 N·m on the highest. Those may not seem like big numbers, but for daily tasks around the house, that’s more than enough to get things done. Plus, working with more delicate electronics, I can ensure that I’m not going to strip out any tiny screws.

One thing I appreciate about this screwdriver, compared to some other sets I’ve bought in the past, is the sheer number of bits it comes with. The package includes 50 bits, ranging from Torx to Pentalobe, and everything fits snugly inside the case. I can also put the head of the bit into the magnet zone to ensure that I don’t lose tiny screws in the process of working on a project. It comes in handy far more than you’d think.
It’s also incredibly nice not needing to switch between multiple screwdrivers in the middle of a project. If you’ve ever taken apart a PC, a phone, or even a gaming console, you know how much manufacturers love to use different types of screws. Between swapping out the thumbsticks on my SteamOS-powered ROG Ally X for hall-effect versions and completely swapping all of my PC parts over to a new case, I’ve never run into an issue finding a bit that I didn’t have in this setup. Yes, I’m going to glaze this screwdriver because it’s come in handy so many times.

The battery life on this thing is fantastic
And the case works as a fidget toy for those anxious folks among us
To be upfront and honest, the thing that worried me the most about this particular screwdriver was the size of the battery. A 350mAh battery doesn’t sound like a lot, but when it’s powering something this small, it lasts for what feels like forever. I’m not even exaggerating when I say that I’ve charged this less than five times since purchasing it in September 2025. I use it quite often, and I’ve never had an issue with it dying on me mid-project.
Sometimes, you just can’t beat manual
But at least I don’t need to use them anywhere near as often anymore
Before someone chimes in with “well, a manual screwdriver can do all that, too!”, I completely and totally get that side of the argument. In my eyes, I love having the convenience of an electric screwdriver that I can bring with me wherever I want to go, and as long as I don’t need to wrench down too incredibly hard on something, it does everything I need it to do. But for some tasks, I still have my collection of screwdrivers readily available.
Let’s say I want to take the time and tackle installing an Android Auto head unit in my car. This electric screwdriver is going to work wonders for me, as most parts of the dash can be quickly removed to access the screws underneath. But if I’m working on something in the engine bay, I’m going to prefer using manual tools, as that’s what I’ve always done. This screwdriver may have replaced half my tools, but it’s always a good idea to keep those old tools on hand for bigger, more labor-intensive projects.
There are bigger, better electric screwdrivers out there
But this pint-sized piece of equipment does the job just right for me
If you’ve been considering an electric screwdriver, I’m here to be the devil on your shoulder. Do it. It doesn’t matter if it’s a cheaper model, or the Fanttik like I have — they’re an incredible piece of tech that makes working on delicate electronics easier and daily tasks simpler. They’re a great piece of equipment to have in your home, especially if you’re someone who loves to tinker with things.
If this one is too small or not powerful enough, there are a plethora of different kinds out there. You may just be surprised at how handy they can be, and just how much easier something like changing out your CPU cooler or tightening a door handle could be. Plus, as someone who tries to find ways to make life easier and more accessible for people like my brother, they excel in that category.
